Madonna y Taylor Swift encabezan las nominaciones a los MTV Video Music Awards 2026, con once y nueve candidaturas respectivamente, en una edición que reunirá a algunas de las figuras más importantes de la música actual.
La Reina del Pop recibió 11 nominaciones, incluyendo una en la categoría de Video del Año por Confessions II – The Film. Por su parte, Taylor Swift obtuvo nueve candidaturas y también competirá por el máximo premio de la noche con “The Fate of Ophelia”, tema perteneciente a Life of a Showgirl.
Junto a ellas, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Gener8ion y Yung Lean completan la lista de nominados a Video del Año.
Entre los artistas que también destacan en esta edición están PinkPantheress y Zara Larsson, con cinco nominaciones cada una. Las artistas incluso compiten juntas en varias categorías gracias a su colaboración “Stateside”, que también recibió una candidatura a Canción del Año.
Por otro lado, la banda Geese obtuvo una nominación en la categoría de Best Alternative por “Taxes”.
Una edición con cambios en las categorías
Los VMAs de este año también presentan algunas modificaciones frente a ediciones anteriores. De acuerdo con Billboard, varias categorías que habían formado parte de ceremonias previas no fueron incluidas en el anuncio de nominaciones de 2026.
Entre ellas están Best Rock, Best Afrobeats, Best Pop Artist, Push Performance of the Year, Best Album, Video for Good, Best Long-form Video, Best Group y Song of the Summer.
La ceremonia se celebrará el domingo 27 de septiembre en Los Ángeles y será transmitida en vivo por CBS, además de contar con una transmisión simultánea en Paramount+ y MTV.
Por ahora, todavía no se han anunciado el presentador de la ceremonia ni la persona que recibirá este año el Video Vanguard Award.
